‘Hamiltoe’ Porn Parody May Be 2019’s Most Unlikely AVN Award Nom

Eitan Levine is a New York stand-up comic and comedy writer who was raised in an orthodox Jewish family—and until last year had no experience whatsoever working in the adult entertainment industry. But at the 2019 AVN Awards on January 26 in Las Vegas, a film conceived and written by the self-described “human theme park” could come away with an impressive four-trophy haul.

Levine is the brains behind the porn parody of the Broadway mega-hit Hamilton, a Woodrocket.com-produced video titled Hamiltoe. Perhaps not surprisingly, one of the categories in which the film is nominated is “Clever Title of the Year.” And with some of the competition, including Cross Eyed Cock Loving Cheerleaders, I Got Fucked by My Probation Officer and There’s Something About Her Asshole, Levine’s film may stand a decent chance.

Hamiltoe is also up for awards in the categories of Best Marketing Campaign – Individual Project, Best Soundtrack and Best Featurette. See a full list of AVN Award nominees at this link

Hamilton was such a cultural touchstone that when Hamiltoe was announced, it was the biggest news story that week. SNL even made a joke about it on ‘Weekend Update,’” Levine told the comedy-business news site Laughspin. “We’ve got an opportunity here to end the Hamiltoe journey in such a bizarrely fitting way. What Hamilton did at the Tonys, I want Hamiltoe to do at the AVNs.”

That won’t actually be possible, as Hamilton took home 11 Tony Awards, seven more than Hamiltoe could win even it swept the four categories in which it is nominated.

Levine told Laughspin that not only will he be in attendance at the AVN Awards in January, he’ll be shooting a documentary—presumably a humorous one—covering his journey into the world of porn, and his quest to to come home with an armful of trophies.

So what led Levine into the adult industry? The Hamiltoe project began as an exercise in experiential journalism. The comic approached his editors at the site Elite Daily, where he works as a journalist, with a story pitch that was only half serious at the time: He would somehow het himself hired as a porn scriptwriter and make an article out of the experience—or at least the experience of trying to break into porn as a writer.

To his surprise, he found a high degree of excitement about his Hamilton porn parody concept.

“(The editors) said yes and then WoodRocket said yes and then a million other people said yes to this project—all of whom I assumed were going to say, ‘Absolutely not,’” he told Laughspin. The rest quickly became porn industry history, a history that will culminate at the upcoming AVN Awards.
